My son has a monthly contract with Vodafone with a Nokia 6500 Classic
The 6500 went missing at a New year's party and he reported it lost
As he was covered by insurance, the phone was replaced

Now the lost phone has turned up and I would like to use it
    - I have an ancient (brick) PAYG, so I thought it would be just a matter of inserting the SIM

However, it turns out that the original (lost) 6500 is barred

We have spoken to Vodafone / insurance company until we are blue in the face
    - we have even offered to pay a fee to have it unbarred, but they won't budge

Are there any options available to make this phone usable ?

Sorry if this is all standard stuff, but am new to this
If there is a relevant topic I would be grateful if the URL could be posted

Thanks for reading this and any help

sorry if my english not good very much, and I try to solved your problem.

1.The phone must be unlock use the unlock SIM,cause every provider have different lock(in every nation).
for example ,hand set who ussualy in Eropa cannot use in Asia.
2.May be the handset lost the lock/IMEI(123456-12-654321)
We can buy the lock/rpl in provider by MX Logger/Mt logger.

    Thanks for the reply
The (lost/found) phone is barred and it may also be locked as well

I'm not sure what I need to do first: get the bar removed or the lock removed

I have read that the phone might not be barred on the Virgin network
    - can anyone confirm

I put a Virgin PAYG sim in the lost/found phone, but it asked for an unlock code

I then put the same Virgin sim in an old unbarred PAYG Nokia phone, locked to the Vodafone network and it said:
    Sim not accepted

Thanks for reading and any help/suggestions appreciated
